**ARTIST ANNOUNCEMENT**

@kell.sunshine

Kelly Spencer is a lettering artist, muralist, & illustrator from New Zealand, with a big love for Mother Earth.

Kelly’s creative style is characterised by bright fresh colour palettes and curvaceous forms, meticulously hand crafted lettering, and illustrative elements of flora and fauna. Her work often serves as a platform to promote the conservation of our natural environment.

Kelly has been a feature artist in street art festivals throughout NZ and the world. She has spoken at a handful of conferences including Typism on the Gold Coast, 2018. Kelly was the curator of the 2019 activation of Sea Walls – Artists for Oceans Tairāwhiti NZ, bringing 20 fresh murals to the town of Gisborne from renowned international artists.

Kelly does not engage in conversation before consuming coffee in the mornings but is henceforth a social creature. Things that make her happy include: Her pup, sunshine, seedlings, the sound of tropical rain, scuba diving, and the thought of being able to travel again.

Kelly's love for Mother Earth

I wanted to add in the beautiful piece Kelly recently completed in Bluff, New Zealand, for @southseaspray (image credit: @mira_a_mire). Kelly says of this piece, "This wall was unique in that it sits behind the Tī Kōuka (cabbage) trees in a leafy courtyard, so I crafted the design to sit in harmony with this environment, almost as a wallpaper for the trees. The owners of the property are sunshine lovers like me, and say that they ‘bloom’ like my fat happy flowers when the rare warm days hit the Bluff."

Kelly also championed the Bluff team "...for all of the amazing work behind the scenes to bring us all down to this beautiful rugged seaside town." Sounds like she had a blast.

Manaakitanga - welcoming and hosting artists well is important to us, and Kelly, we hope you have an equally awesome time here in Ōtautahi with us!
