Cakes by Anna

149 High St

A Fine Arts graduate and self taught baker, I have created my own style of baking and cake decorating. This is a strictly no fondant zone, that stuff is kicked to the kerb and replaced with fresh fruit and veges, high quality ingredients, fresh flowers and herbs, anything edible that will enhance the flavour and look of a cake. There is so much beauty found in nature, and my cakes highlight that. The cake menu changes often, and with the seasons. I like to offer flavours that you might not find on a regular cake menu. While the classic carrot cake has its place in the world, there is so much more out there. Take the plunge, I will hold your hand/ the fork. The cakes are made to order, and at least 48 hours notice is recommended to guarantee I can fit you in.

The Conscious Club

BOXed Quarter, 270 St Asaph St

The Conscious Club's mission is to create awareness around social and ethical issues that we face in today's society, make a sustainable and ethical lifestyle easier and more accessible for the general population and to ultimately improve the health of the planet and the creatures that inhabit it. We achieve this through hosting events, workshops and more to educate people and communities through storytelling, creativity & fun.

Reviewed by Neat Places in their 'Quirky Christmas Shopping in Christchurch' guide:

The people behind The Conscious Club are hell-bent on creating a more sustainable, connected and conscious Christchurch. Through events such as clothing swaps, beach clean-ups and chat series, they spread their mission to the city. All creatives, they work out of BOXed Quarter, which acts as their HQ for brainstorming and planning sessions. As makers themselves, a section of their shop is dedicated to conscious goods, such as repurposed vintage clothing, crochet animals, scrunchies, artwork and more - made by themselves and other local makers. - Words by Ashlyn Oswalt. This was an initiative set up by Neighbourhood Trust in the Christchurch suburb of Mairehau. Pay it Forward had a great run from 2011 to October 2019, at which point we reformed as The Kōwhai Collective, and with amazing support from the Enliven Places Project Fund and Life in Vacant Spaces. We have moved from our Pop-up store location at the Guthrey Centre to our new home in SALT District. Open 10am - 5pm Wednesday to Saturday.
